in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania , hailing from Jacksonville,
Florida . Rev. Dr. John Allen Newman, artist, producer,
former talk show host, record company CEO, and senior
pastor of The Sanctuary @ Mt. Calvary Church of Jacksonville
, is a man of many facets.
A much
sought after lecturer, preacher, and seminar leader,
Dr. Newman particularly likes to address how the Gospel
of Christ relates to the whole person. He has ministered
throughout the and was a delegate to the World Festival
in Moscow, where he preached at the Baptist Church of
Moscow. |

A man of many gifts,
Dr. Newman is also called upon to provide leadership to business organizations.
After the riots in Los Angeles , he was asked by the United Way to
be a seminar leader for their National Minority Roundtable to address
their executives of African, Asian, and Hispanic descent.
It is a known fact
that Dr. Newman’s contacts go all the way to the Nation’s
Capitol. He was North East Florida’s campaign chairman for
Jesse Jackson’s bid for president, and is constantly sought
after for advice from those seeking office in local, state and national
elections.
Another professional
organization that has called upon Dr. Newman for his expertise is
The National Association of Broadcasters. This organization sought
him to advise the media on the most responsible way to deal with
the deadly disease AIDS.
Certainly no stranger
to the media, Dr. Newman has been the voice of experience for many
local and national radio stations. He was once the host of “Gospel
Vibrations”, a local video/talk show in Jacksonville . He
has been a frequent guest host for another talk show, “First
Coast Sunrise” and a devotional speaker for television stations
in the area. The talk show, “Real Life, with John Allen Newman”,
began airing on Comcast channel 7 every Sunday morning @7AM. On
this show, Dr. Newman deals with ‘real life’ issues
that face Christians and non-Christisans every day.
He has been quoted
in the Jacksonville newspaper as well as the magazine “Golf
Review” where renowned black golfer, Calvin Pete referred
to Dr. Newman as his spiritual guide. He has appeared in publications
such as: The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Orlando Sentinel, The Wall
Street Journal, The Atlanta Constitution, The Florida Times-Union,
and Jacksonville Today.
Active in the community
and a member of various organizations, Dr. Newman holds or has held
memberships on the Education Board of the National Baptist Convention
of America, Inc., the Social Justice Commission of The National
Baptist Convention of America, Inc., Board of Directors of Jacksonville
Urban League, Duval County School Board Issue Task Force, the Mayor’s
Education Council, The Mayor’s Council On Community Reconciliation,
the Sheriff’s Advisory Board, Board of Directors of Cornerstone
Jacksonville, Advisory Board of McKnight Center of Excellence, Jacksonville
Together, and The Board of Directors of the Help Center.
Dr. Newman did his
undergraduate and graduate degree work at Eastern Baptist College
and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary respectively. He was awarded
the Doctoral of Divinity from Virginia Seminary and College, Lynchburg,
Virginia .
He is the President
& CEO of NAP Records, his works include Straight Out of Brooklyn
and Wounded, You’re Welcome”, he records and also produces
other artists. He is a published author; his latest book is entitled
“I Am The Rose”, which is a must read for women of all
ages. |
